Roger and Jools Jackson
will provide you with a warm welcome at the Anglesey Arms, where
the traditional values of a real country pub have been effortlessly
blended with a superb restaurant, where carefully sourced good food
and delightful wine are the order of the day.
A charming
and old-fashioned country pub. The Anglesey Arms at Halnaker (the
"l" is silent) is situated on the A285 Chichester-Petworth
road, which follows the course of old Roman Stane Street.
The pub is part of the Goodwood
Estate, famous for its horse
racing, especially the July festival, known affectionately as
'Glorious Goodwood'; two world class motor racing events
(The Festival
of Speed and the Goodwood
Revival) and Golf at Goodwood at The Kennels. |

If you are in
West Sussex, on holiday, then the Anglesey Arms would make an ideal
choice to sample traditional hospitality coupled with good food.
We are famed for our steaks and seasonal local fish, shellfish and
game. Careful sourcing including local organic meat and vegetables
is a hallmark of the kitchen.
Within a mile of the pub
is the famous Boxgrove
archaeological site, where,
in 1993, the 500,000 year-old shin bone of Boxgrove Man (a robust
human over 1.8m tall) was found. Also at Boxgrove is the Priory
Church, dating from the early 12th century, when it was part of
a
Benedictine Priory.

| The
pub can also be hired for private functions such as weddings. Large
marquees can be erected in the garden which extends to nearly two
acres. There is also a private dining room which can be booked for
those special occasions and celebrations. Please contact
us with your requirements and we will provide a quote if we
can meet them.
We, unfortunately,
have no accommodation but our friends Heather and Patrick run a
superb Michelin recommended Guest House almost opposite at The Old
Store. We hear nothing but praise for their professional and friendly
service. Contact them at www.theoldstoreguesthouse.com
We are
featured in The Good Beer Guide, The Good Pub Guide, The AA Pub
Guide and Best Pubs Guide, Alistair Sawday's Special Places Pubs
& Inns and Les Routiers. |
